Privacy policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
This policy explains how FindNearMeUK ("we") uses personal data, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Your location
When you choose Use my location, your browser shares your approximate coordinates with this website so we can find nearby places. We use them only to answer that search. We don't store your location against you or build a location history. Search requests may appear briefly in server logs (kept for up to 21 days) for security and troubleshooting.
Reports and claims
If you report incorrect information or claim a listing, we store what you send us, including your email address and phone number if you give them. We use them only to review the report or claim and, if needed, to contact you about it. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping listings accurate. We keep reports for up to 24 months and then delete contact details. To protect against abuse, we store a one-way hash of your IP address, not the address itself.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies. See our cookie policy.
Who we share data with
We don't sell personal data. Our hosting provider processes data on our behalf. Map images are loaded from a map tile server, which receives your IP address as part of the normal web request.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, or object to how we use it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
